Kate Five and The Odds

Captain Evening and The Odds are meeting a rising super-hero star called Kate Five, from the fictional city of Angel Falls.

Everyone is quite taken with her (especially Armstrong Fatbuckle) and they even invite her to their secret Fortress Of Evening, enjoying the view of Manhattan (hey, they even put some pants on! Though once the sun comes out, that will probably change drastically).

By inviting this charming new heroine into their lair, they have effectively trusted her with their secret identities. There is NO way that will ever come back biting them in the butt, e.g. if she ever gets posessed by an evil symbiont or something...

Picture are, f.l.t.r: Blue Knight aka Inspector Dennis, Armstrong Fatbuckle aka The Living Skeleton, Kate Five, Captain Evening, Centennia and Merv the Griffin. This obviously takes place before Kate Five's recent adventures. (What if they hear about it? Will they intervene? Will they stand a chance? Will we ever find out?)

After their first adventure together (sans Captain Evening), The Odds invited new superhero Jetstar to visit their Fortress Evening to meet their fearless leader, and the rest of the gang!

Part of this World P3: Secret Emergency

Our young heroine finds the Fortress of Evening mostly deserted, only one lone anthropomorphic rabbit is holding down the fort and the monitor room. Again, there’s nothing heroic or otherwise entertaining to do– seemingly!

If she only knew (a common thread in this tale, it seems)… if she only knew that Captain Evening and his team are trapped by some baddies, with no way to call out for help!

(In the last panel, we see Ionic Angel, Captain Evening, Emerald Valkyrie and The Living Skeleton with some unknown villains).

Doubt of the Dreadful 10: First Encounter

We’re recounting what led to this very fateful encounter– for the first time! Again!

Merv the Griffin, summoned by Dr Brain, is on a mission to destroy Captain Evening, but he doesn’t know what a “Captain Evening” is! Fate had it, he smashed into the home of the very person he’s looking for. The Captain is too honest not to admit that he’s his target.

At that time, the intrepid Jenny Everywhere was around, too!

The last panel is slightly reworked from the original story in Tales #2, the rest is all-new!

Return to the Mighty Bares P 01

It is summer in New York, and it is very hot. So it is time to get rid of all clothes and visit The Mighty Bares Naturist Camp! Please enjoy this little romp before we get back to our Anywhere storyline!

Mr Mighty, former superheroic mentor to Captain Evening, is the proprietor of the site. This time, it’s Captain Evening, Lady Venus, Burst Lion and Merv the Griffin who made the trip. Just like in real life, they are going through a heatwave. Thankfully, there is a pool…

Beware The Combinator!

Idea for a new villain, combining the powers of Captain Evening and his fellow heroes!

Wings and legs of the Griffin, face and arm of the skeleton, another arm and the mask of Captain Evening, armor of the Blue Knight and Centennia, and the scarf and jeans of Jenny Everywhere. 

Kind of like Marvel's Super-Skrull and Adaptoid, or DC’s Amazo. Could be fun…

Since we’re about to start a BRAND-NEW story with Captain Evening and the Odds NEXT WEEKEND(!), it seems time to do another roll call of the “core” Odds team, as the team has gone through changes over time, and there have been many other friends joining them on their adventures.

Cozy Reading Nook

On a rainy day, Jesse Brain found a nice cozy nook at the Fortress of Evening, with a hot brew and a good book. (Click to enlarge)

Jesse is the daughter of arch villain Dr Brain, and formerly part of his gang as the Wicked Witch. At some point, she renounced her villainous ways and identity, partially because she was usurped by her best frenemy Alicia.

She hooked up with her daddy’s biggest enemy, the heroic Captain Evening and henceforth has been living with the heroes at their headquarters. She has not joined the Captain’s team as a heroine (yet), and is mostly just drifting in limbo, trying to figure out her future. And enjoying the good life.

I only told hime which characters to use, the rest is all his doing. Thanks so much tulio!

It features Centennia and Captain Perfect from Tales To Behold, teaming up with cyberkitten01's Kate Five, Battle Angel and Emerald Valkyrie, and their surrounding looks… hellish!

In the current storyline of Kate Five Vs Symbiote, she and her friends are staying with Captain Evening and The Odds, and Centennia and Captain Perfect have just caught up with them, too. Meanwhile, Nexi Girl and Aqua Marine are still in the Underworld, and her symbiotic is suffering from the separation…

Summer Rooftop Party 2025

It’s summer in the BEHOLDERverse, so Captain Evening has once more invited all his superhero friends (and maybe a couple villains, too?) to his rooftop for a glorious, CLOTHING OPTIONAL, and EPIC shindig at the Fortress of Evening!

This is a small picture, so of course it can’t fit all the guests that heeded the call.

And while a few of the character “pairings” / charas chatting w/ each other, are intentional and reference their history and past adventures, many “pairings” are entirely random and a fun way to make different characters from different creators interact.

So obviously, your faithful cosmic being is exhausted now and can’t name all the characters in this post just YET. (He will, in the next update hopefully). Can YOU name them all 😃?

Superheroes of the BEHOLDERVERSE

We pause our usual updates (again?!) to share with you a little introduction, an “intro chart” of our many friends that can be found at the Fortress of Evening! (A glorious penthouse headquarters in Midtown, in the Big Apple!) We have two main groups, Captain Evening and the Odds, and Section P, the latter originally from the UK and a brainchild of my colleague James Damaged.

Furthermore, there are many other guests that visit more or less regularly, unaffiliated or from other groups (below with green caption boxes), we present you here a completely random representation of three of the brave and beloved fellow fighters for good.

They frequently come from other corners of the Multiverse, and even other creators – Mixtli is by tulio19mx, Queen Betty by Jay Epps, Valor Girl by Johann-Octavius Gans. We must also not forget to point out that Ionic Angel and Burst Lion are from the creator of the same name.

06 Incursion from a Different Time and Space P5: Odd Histories

Back at the Fortress of Evening, we find out that the Blue Knight’s Original first name was Denise (“Denise Dennis”? No wonder does she prefer the abbreviated just one name!), and that she was already separated from this supposed husband, when she left her old life behind.

She sure is pleased to leave this conversation to help out Captain Evening and The Odds, but her new / old appendage is not easily disposed of.

(We also revisit some interesting adventures from the beginning of The Odds’ careers, and the backstory of Dennis’ sword. We haven’t tried out its magical properties in quite a while!)

Once again, welcome to our latest tale!

You all know Captain Evening, fearless leader of our favorite super-team, The fabulous Odds and owner of a penthouse in Manhattan, (his real superpower), where he hosts a number of superheroes: It is the Fortress of Evening!

Jesse Brain is his young girlfriend, a former super-villainess called Wicked Witch, and incidentally the daughter of his arch nemesis, Dr Brain.

Marcus the Vampire is the owner of a seedy vampire club, and is a character by James Damaged.
