Captain Marvel In Space

Quick drawing of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, formerly known as Ms Marvel, Binary, Warbird. Currently, she's in space having awesome adventures written by Kelly Sue DeConnick.

This is a rather small drawing, drawn mostly with a rough brush pen on simple paper. The colors are what make it pop, using a more conservative, full color approach on the figure, while just coloring the line for the background.

1980s Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau)

Created by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr, she could take on any form of energy and was thus enormously powerful. She was also the first female African -American Avenger.

Monica Rambeau was a big part of the 80s Avengers and even lead the team later on. After many changes, she now goes by the name of Spectrum and appears in the series Mighty Avengers.

Higher! Further! Faster! More!

Inspired by Kelly Sue Deconick's portrayal of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, Earth's Mightiest Hero!

Beware The Combinator!

Idea for a new villain, combining the powers of Captain Evening and his fellow heroes!

Wings and legs of the Griffin, face and arm of the skeleton, another arm and the mask of Captain Evening, armor of the Blue Knight and Centennia, and the scarf and jeans of Jenny Everywhere. 

Kind of like Marvel's Super-Skrull and Adaptoid, or DC’s Amazo. Could be fun…

Captain Marvel and (some) Guardians of the Galaxy

Captain Marvel's latest adventures are taking place in space, so of course she's running into the protagonists of the latest Marvel blockbuster movie– Guardians of the Galaxy.

Here is my interpretation of two of them, Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon, with Earth Mightiest Hero.

Kelly Sue DeConnick continues to write Carol Danvers in a fun and engaging way.

Super-heroes take selfies, too! Here's Captain Marvel  alias Carol Danvers with the No 1 of her latest comic series.

Inspired by tumbler posts of many fans who posted selfies with the new book. Writer Kelly Sue DeConnick has a big and very loyal following, they call themselves the Carol Corps. Nice to see so much heart in mainstream comics.

Avengers of the 80s

Now THAT’s what I call Avengers! A humble homage to some childhood heroes.

One of the first Marvel series that I read was the Avengers run by Roger Stern, John Buscema and Tom Palmer, and this was the line-up. The Wasp was a smart and dynamic chairwoman, with Captain America sometimes advising her. The powerhouses were Hercules and The Submariner, plus the Black Knight as resident scientist, and Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau) who would go on to lead the team next.

The most famous arcs from that team were “Under Siege" and "Assault on Olympus”, which were great adventure stories. Buscema’s dynamic figures and compositions were wonderful, and the excellent inking / finishing by Tom Palmer always left everything looking like it was shiny and vibrating with energy.

It’s funny that this line-up is somewhat unusual once you know more about the publishing history of the Avengers. But for me, those guys will always be like a bunch of old friends. Those were the days!

In her new comic series, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel is taking off to the stars for new, exciting adventures and even more zapping, punching and general buttkicking.

Here she’s enjoying one last slice from her favorite pizza joint while looking back on earth getting smaller in the distance. Let the adventure begin!

She takes up the name of Captain Marvel, and becomes a super-herione that female readers can actually identify with.
